Sanjay Manjrekar and Irfan Pathan Clash Over Jaiswal’s Run-Out Incident

On day 2 of the 4th test against Australia, India scored 164/5. This was impressive because Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli had an amazing 102 run partnership for the third wicket and it ended up with Jaiswal getting run out, which caused many disagreements about who spoiled. After that happened, Indian cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Irfan Pathan got into a strong argument over it while doing the post-day discussion on Star Sports.

During a live broadcast on Star Sports Network, Irfan Pathan and Sanjay Manjrekar engaged in a heated debate over Jaiswal’s run-out.

Manjrekar thought Kohli made a mistake by not taking the single when Jaiswal called for it since Jaiswal was the one in a bad or difficult spot. He believed Kohli could have safely made the run because the ball was moving at a slow speed. According to him, Kohli hesitating and looking back was the mistake, especially Jaiswal made the call. If it was an call from Jaiswal, he would have been the one to get run out at the non-striker's end, not Kohli.

Irfan Pathan had a different opinion from Manjrekar. Pathan said Kohli had a good reason for not going for the run, considering how fast Jaiswal's shot went to Pat Cummins the fielder. Also, Kohli had to think about how dangerous it was to take that run. Irfan reminded everyone that Kohli, being at the non-striker's end could say no to a run if he thought it seemed to dangerous.

The discussion became really heated, and the two cricket players were even speaking over each other; this made Manjrekar seems quite frustrated and he rather gave up saying, If you don't want to let me speak, it's alright. He then made a sarcastic comment that whatever Irfan thought regarding when to run should be added to a coaching book. Manjrekar also thought that Kohli getting out might have had something to do with feeling regarding Jaiswal being run out earlier. He guessed that Kohli wasn't focusing right because he was still thinking too much about that mistake from before.
