Sameer Rizvi Sets Record with Fastest Double Century in Men’s U23 State A Trophy History
Uttar Pradesh captain Sameer Rizvi made history on Saturday by smashing the fastest double century in the Men's U23 State A Trophy during a match against Tripura in Vadodara.
Rizvi achieved this milestone in just 97 balls, hitting 13 fours and an incredible 20 sixes. His stunning performance helped Uttar Pradesh post a massive total of 405 runs.
Delhi Capitals just got Rizvi for ₹95 lakh at the IPL auction. Before this, Rizvi was with Chennai Super Kings, obtaining 51 runs across five games, even though it was hard during that time. Even after CSK paid a whopping ₹8.4 crore for him once, they decided not to keep him on for the 2025 season.
Sameer first gained attention in the 2019-20 season when former Indian spinner Sunil Joshi gave him a first-class debut at the young age of 16.

"One of Sameer's strengths is his ability to adapt and bat anywhere between No. 4 and No. 7. He's a versatile player, just like Rinku Singh, and has shown excellent finishing skills," Joshi said about Rizvi after his CSK selection last year.
"The talent was always there. When he debuted in the Ranji Trophy, many said he was too young, but he was ready. Since then, he has worked hard to improve and take his game to the next level. His rise has been phenomenal, but I'm not surprised,"Joshi added.
Rizvi really demonstrated his skills as a power hitter this year. In the UP T20 League 2023, he was doing extremely well, scoring the highest runs in a single game with 122 and knocking out the fastest century in the tournament in only 47 balls. Not to mention, he ended up with 455 runs and an impressive 35 sixes.
He even had the best strike rate, at 188.80, of all players who scored more than 100 runs in the league; then, in the 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, Rizvi slammed 18 sixes, making him one of the top ten six-hitters. He hit a six for every 11th ball and had a very nice strike rate of 139.89, further making his mark in cricket.
