SA vs PAK, 1st Test: Babar Azam copies Mohammed Siraj’s bail flip trick featuring Stuart Broad

Babar Azam did a playful twist in the Centurion Test where he turned the bails over for better luck, something Stuart Broad, Virat Kohli, and Mohammed Siraj have also done before. Doing something unusual yet enjoyable in test cricket really brings joy to it.
On the second day of the test match between Pakistan and South Africa at Centurion, something interesting happened. Babar attempted to test different and new options for his team by experimenting since South Africa was doing a good job chasing Pakistan's score of 211 from the first innings. This didn't get them a wicket right then, but it did add a little happy time to a hard day for Pakistan.

Mohammed Siraj, an Indian bowler, adjusted the bails on top of the wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Siraj figured doing that might change things in the future, specifically when Australian player Marnus Labuschagne was doing well. Right after Siraj made his move, Jasprit Bumrah managed to take out Usman Khawaja.
Originally, this unusual method came from Stuart Broad, an English cricketer. Broad believed that hitting the bails off could really change the other team, maybe even end a strong partnership between players or just make the match more interesting. After Broad started this, other players added their own twist to the tactic.
South Africa’s Bowlers Dominate Pakistan's Batting Lineup
In Centurion, the cricket match was tough for Pakistan's team when they tried to hit against South Africa's intense bowling. Dane Paterson snatched up five wickets and the new man Corbin Bosch took four wickets which had Pakistan's players returning to their seats one by one until they couldn't score much, the only player with some runs was Kamran Ghulam's hard-earned 51 runs. When it was South Africa's turn, Aiden Markram scored 50 runs, surpassing the team score of over 150 runs without getting out on day 1.
In a hard match, Babar Azam did something enjoyable that shows cricket isn't only focused on the numbers. Azam did this marvelous trick where he flipped the bail, While it doesn't always work out, but it brings a fun undercurrent to the serious concentrated environment of Test cricket. This bold move reminds everyone that cricket isn’t just about scores but also about the amusing little moments that connect players and fans.
