RR and RCB Owners Open to Selling 100% Stake in IPL Franchises for ₹11,000-16,300 Crore
The owners of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are ready to sell their full ownership in the IPL teams. RCB’s parent company, United Spirits (Diageo), had started planning the sale last year because the company now sees the cricket team as not part of its main business.
Rajasthan Royals, which is mostly owned by Manoj Badale’s Emerging Media, is also open to selling its stake, although the exact reason has not been clearly explained. Recently, RR reportedly received a bid of about $1.3 billion (around ₹11,791 crore) from investor Kal Somani, who has been connected with the team since 2021 and has formed a group to buy the franchise.

Other interested groups include Lancer Capital, Capri Global, Sanjay Govil, and the Times Group. For RCB, many well-known investors have shown interest. These include Lancer Capital, Manipal Group, Adar Poonawalla, Times Group, EQT Private Capital, Capri Global, Sanjay Govil, and Premji Invest. Reports say both teams are ready to sell 100% ownership.
RCB could receive bids between $1.2 billion and $1.8 billion for its men’s and women’s teams together, while RR could get offers between $1.2 billion and $1.4 billion, as it currently does not have a women’s team. The Raine Group is handling the sale process for RR, and Citigroup is managing the process for RCB. Final bids for RR are expected in the first week of March, just before IPL 2026 starts on March 26, while RCB’s final bids are likely to come by the end of February.
