IPL 2026 Auction Likely on December 15: Full Details and Latest Updates

The IPL 2026 auction is expected to be held on December 15, according to TOI. The last two auctions took place in Dubai (2023) and Jeddah (2024). This year, the mini-auction might return to India, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet. Teams have until November 15 to finalise their retention list.

On the other hand, the WPL auction will be held on November 27 in Delhi. This will be the first mega auction since the league began. As for the IPL trade window, things have been quiet so far. Even the heavily discussed rumour about Sanju Samson moving out of Rajasthan Royals hasn’t seen any progress yet.

India's 2025 Women's ODI World Cup-winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur (Mumbai Indians), vice-captain and superstar Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bengaluru), and their World Cup winning teammates Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma (Delhi Capitals) have all been retained by the WPL franchises ahead of the 2026 mega auction.

UP Warriorz have let go of India’s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma, who had an outstanding season with 22 wickets in nine games and scored 215 runs with three fifties. She was also the Player of the Tournament at the World Cup. However, the team is expected to use the Right-to-Match card to bring her back at the auction. This will be the first time that the RTM card will be used in the WPL auction. Deep led the Warriorz - who have only retained young batter Shweta Sehrawat - in Alyssa Healy's absence in 2025.

Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have each kept five players, which is the maximum they are allowed to retain for the WPL. The Gujarat Giants have retained the Aussie duo of Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney, while RCB have retained Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Richa and Shreyanka Patil.
