Rohit Sharma ended the mystery of KL Rahul's Batting Position

On the eve of the Pink Ball Test Match between India and Australia, Rohit Sharma ended the mystery of where KL Rahul will bat as he joined the team last week after returning from a personal break. The drama started when Kl Rahul dodged the question about his batting position, answering differently, “ I’ve been told but I've also been told to not share it today". Suspense finally and when captain Rohit Sharma came to the press conference.
A Floater Batter
32-year-old experienced batter, who had performed well during the first test with scores of 26 and 77 in the first and second innings respectively. Rahul who has a great record with opening the innings during overseas matches, has also proved himself as a floating better who can bat anywhere. Later on, Rahul also mentioned that he has overcome the mental challenges of being a floating batter adding that he can get anywhere in the team's benefit.
Rohit's Statement and Last Match Performance
The ongoing controversy was finally ended during the press conference a night before the test match where Rohit Sharma came to talk to the media, yah clearly stated that KL Rahul would open the innings along the Yashasvi Jaiswal, for the context, in the second inning of the first test match of the Border Gavaskar trophy, Rahul and Jaiswal opened the inning and scored a record partnership of 201 runs in Perth, probably this reason would have played a crucial role in the decision making.

Where will Rohit bat?
Rohit also put the discussion to an end about where he will bat, he added “ I will play somewhere in the middle. Not easy for me but it's the best for the team,”, for a player who was been batting as an opener for over 10 years it's not an easy session to make but being captain Rohit Sharma made the decision for the team. He also said he was impressed with Rahul's performance as an opener and he was watching his batting while being in the home having his newborn baby in his hands.
The decision is praised by many former cricketers including the former coach Ravi Shastri, who added Rohit can effectively bat at 5 or 6.
During his over 200 innings across all the formats, Rahul has batted in almost all positions from being an opener to a finisher. For the time being as he is batting well as an opener, Rohit chose to sacrifice position in the team's favour.
That decision gets even more important as the next match is in Adelaide which comes with challenging conditions for the batter on top of that, the second test match is a Pink Ball test match and India does not have a very good record, last time, India played such a match it got all out at a historic low of 36 runs.
