RO-KO Bond: Virat Kohli Opens Up on His Special Partnership with Rohit Sharma After Back-to-Back ICC WinsIndian cricket star Virat Kohli said he and Rohit Sharma have enjoyed playing together over the years. He shared that after spending so much time representing India side by side, a strong bond and trust have naturally grown between them. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma started playing international cricket around the same time. Over the years, they worked hard, stayed consistent, and became two of the best players in the world in all formats of the game.

From 2014 to 2023, the pair were at the peak of their careers, but an ICC trophy always slipped through their fingers. Still, things have changed in the last couple of years. They finally broke the jinx, winning two big ICC tournaments back-to-back, the T20 World Cup in 2024 and the Champions Trophy in 2025.

Kohli on Rohit: A Bond Built on Trust and Teamwork

Before the big match at Wankhede Stadium between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians, Virat Kohli talked about the strong connection he has built with Rohit Sharma over the years.

“I think it’s a very natural thing to take place when you play with someone for so long and you share so much of your insight of the game initially, your learning from each other, you’re kind of growing in your careers at probably the same time and you share all kind of queries and questions," Kohli said in a video posted by RCB.

The former India captain also talked about working with Rohit as part of the leadership team. He said their partnership was strong because they trusted each other.

“So there’s a lot of back and forth that happens and also the fact that, you know, we worked very closely in terms of the leadership for the team, so there were always ideas discussed and more or less, we would end up on the same page in terms of the gut feel of that situation, there is a trust factor and do the job for the team," Kohli said.

The star duo has retired from T20Is after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup with India. However, they’re not done yet, they still want to win more trophies together for the country in other formats, “We have definitely enjoyed our time playing together, so we were able to make out careers long because when we were young, as I said, it was not certain that we would end up playing for 15 years for India. The journey for so long and consistently, very grateful and very happy for all the memories, all the moments that we've shared and continue to do so,” he added.
