Revival of Afro-Asia Cup in the Works After Two Decades
The Africa Cricket Association (ACA) is considering bringing back the Afro-Asia Cup, a series of white-ball matches featuring an Asian XI and an African XI. Discussions were held during the ACA's recent AGM, where a six-person interim committee was appointed to enhance competitive opportunities for players on the continent and restructure the ACA. The tournament, last played in 2007 in India, could see a revival almost two decades later. The potential return of the Afro-Asia Cup also opens up the possibility for players from India and Pakistan to unite in the Asia XI team. Tavengwa Mukuhlani, interim chair of the ACA, expressed enthusiasm for the tournament's revival, highlighting the financial benefits and strong interest from both continents.
