The Best Cricketer of the Year awards in 2024 were presented to Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah. These awards were significant because they were awarded after the four-year gap. The Naman Awards will be held this year. Reports say the cricket awards event might happen in Mumbai on February 1st. The last time they were on January 24, 2024 in Mumbai.
The BCCI is planning to hold the Naman Awards. They're planning to send out special invites to the state leaders, the heads of cricket, and the players who have won awards before. The event will be right before the fifth game when India and England play in Mumbai. Last time, they gave awards for four years 2019 to 2023.
Some top-rated cricket players won a big prize because they played very well. Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah got the Polly Umrigar Award for being the best men's cricketer in the last four years. For the women, Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana were wonderful. For the young women also, Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana were wonderful.
Deepti won the award two times, in the seasons of 2019-20 and 2022-23. Smriti was the best in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. Ravi Shastri and Farokh Engineer got the Colonel CK Naidu Lifetime Achievement Award. Ravi former coach of the Indian team, and Farokh was an exceptional but feeble wicketkeeper. They both did very well for cricket in India.
