Rayudu & Badrinath Mock RCB’s IPL Trophy Drought: ‘We Need Them for the Drama’

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are presently in Chennai for their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which is set to take place on March 28 at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Before the high-stakes match of the popular league, former CSK players Ambati Rayudu and S Badrinath made fun of RCB’s title drought.

A video is going viral on social media showing both former CSK players having a lighthearted discussion, playfully talking about RCB’s long wait for a trophy and whether it will finallyend this year.

During the discussion, Badrinath playfully asked Rayudu if RCB would be able to break their streak of bad luck this year. Both cricketers burst into laughter, and Rayudu admitted that he has always enjoyed watching RCB struggle to win the title. While he hopes they eventually succeed, he said he would prefer it not to happen this year. He then made a sharp remark, suggesting that the IPL needs a team like RCB on e that constantly raises expectations but falls short making the tournament even more exciting. Here is the clip.

“Purely as a fan, and as someone who has had a really good laugh at them over the years because of what they do to themselves, I would want them to win at some point—but maybe not this year. We want CSK to do well and win it this time. In the end, the IPL needs a team like RCB (laughs),” Rayudu said.

Strong Start for RCB and CSK in IPL 2025

Both RCB and CSK started their IPL 2025 campaign with a win. Chennai defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) in their opening match, while RCB secured a victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

In head-to-head encounters, CSK has the upper hand, winning 21 out of 33 matches against RCB. Bengaluru has won 11 matches, while one game ended without a result. The last time these two teams met was in a do-or-die clash during IPL 2024, where RCB defeated CSK by 24 runs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
