Ravi Shastri Predicts Jasprit Bumrah as Australia's Next Cricket Sensation

Ravi Shastri Predicts Jasprit Bumrah as Australia's Next Cricket Sensation

As the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 unfolds, the Australian media has turned its spotlight on India's cricket maestro, Virat Kohli. With a formidable record of six centuries and an average exceeding 50 in Test matches on Australian soil, Kohli has firmly established himself as a significant threat to the hosts. His prowess with the bat has led to widespread coverage across Australian sports pages, underscoring his ability to dominate even in the most challenging conditions.

Reflecting on this immense influence, former Indian cricketer and coach Ravi Shastri drew parallels with another cricketing legend. During his playing days, Shastri recalled how West Indies' Viv Richards captivated Australian fans with his exceptional batting skills. "In our times, it was Viv Richards. His ability to command the game and outplay the bowlers not only made him a household name but earned him deep respect in Australia," Shastri reminisced on Star Sports.

Fast forward to the present, Shastri sees a similar adoration for Kohli in Australia. "King Richards then, King Kohli now," he remarked, highlighting how Kohli's exceptional performances have endeared him to Australian fans. "Australians appreciate visiting players who can shine on their turf, and Virat has consistently delivered runs Down Under," Shastri added.

However, Shastri also foresaw the emergence of a new hero in the Australian cricket narrative—Jasprit Bumrah. Known for his lethal bowling capabilities, Bumrah has already made an indelible mark in the ongoing series by claiming five wickets in the first innings of the opening Test. "Next would be Jasprit Bumrah. Boom Boom Bumrah will capture attention here with his bowling prowess. Australians recognize the threat he poses to their team," Shastri explained.

As the series progresses, cricket enthusiasts worldwide will be keenly watching whether Bumrah can indeed emulate the kind of impact Kohli and Richards have had in Australia. With his unique bowling style and ability to dismantle batting line-ups, Bumrah is well on his way to becoming a household name in Australian cricket lore.
