Rahul Dravid’s Son Anvay Set to Lead Karnataka’s Youth Squad

Anvay Dravid, the son of former India captain Rahul Dravid, will lead Karnataka’s team and also play as the wicketkeeper in the upcoming Vinoo Mankad Trophy, India’s top Under-19 one-day tournament. The Vinoo Mankad Trophy has long served as a proving ground for the country’s brightest young cricketers, and Anvay’s elevation to captaincy underscores his consistent performances at the junior level.

Anvay Dravid to Lead Karnataka in Vinoo Mankad Trophy

The 18-year-old was Karnataka’s leading run-scorer in the previous edition of the competition and has emerged as one of the most promising young batters in the state’s setup. Anvay’s form in recent years has been exceptional.

In the Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, he topped Karnataka’s run charts for the second consecutive season, scoring 459 runs in six matches at an impressive average of 91.80, including two centuries and 46 boundaries. His consistency and composure have made him a key figure in Karnataka’s youth structure.

Karun Nair Returns as Karnataka Announces Ranji Trophy Squad

As the junior team gets ready for their tournament, Karnataka’s senior team has also revealed its squad for the first Ranji Trophy match of 2025 against Saurashtra. The squad includes a notable comeback: Karun Nair is back in the team. Karun Nair, who last played for Karnataka two seasons ago, is making a comeback after doing well with Vidarbha. He played an important role in helping Vidarbha win the Ranji Trophy last season. Nair was first included in the list of possible players and later confirmed in the final squad.

Mayank Agarwal will keep leading the senior team, which now includes some new players like Kruthika Krishna, Shikhar Shetty, and Mohsin Khan. Karun Nair’s return adds experience to the team, strengthening a talented batting lineup aiming for a strong start to the domestic season.
