Rachin Ravindra Injury Update: Will He Play Against Pakistan in CT 2025?
It isn’t clear if Rachin Ravindra will play in the match between Pakistan and New Zealand. While playing at Gaddafi Stadium, the New Zealand player was hit on his forehead. He was trying to catch the ball from a far spot and lost sight of it, and the ball hit him on the side of his head. He began bleeding shortly after and had to leave the field.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) later said that Rachin got cuts on his head. Because of this, he won't be playing in the tri-series with New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa. Even 10 days later, he still isn’t feeling fully better.
New Zealand’s player, Tom Latham, mentioned that Rachin would have a training session tonight, just before the match against Pakistan. Only after that session can his fitness be checked. Latham also said that Rachin's recovery is going well, but he must follow all the necessary health steps because it was a head injury.
“Rachin will train tonight and we’ll get a bit more of an indication of how he’s going. His recovery’s going well, but just need to make sure since it was a pretty nasty injury. When it’s a head injury you just need to make sure things are all right, so just going through the protocols he needs to go through and we’ll wait and see,” Latham told reporters in Karachi.
Even without him, New Zealand’s strength shone through during the tri-series: Devon Conway stepped up with impressive scores of 97 and 48, while Glenn Phillips delivered a standout unbeaten 106 off 74 balls with seven sixes and six fours helping the team post a commanding 330/6 total. With these solid stats and a well-prepared backup plan in place, the squad is determined to face Pakistan today, balancing careful recovery protocols with the drive to win.
