"Don’t Let Your Status Overwhelm You" – Sanjay Bangar’s Advice to Virat Kohli for the BGT 2024-25 4th Test

Bangar said that Kohli should look for his leaders in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy game starting December 26 in Melbourne. He also mentioned that Kohli has had great success at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in the past and the conditions there should work in his favor now too. Sanjay Bangar, who played cricket for India once, was giving advice to Virat Kohli.
About Kohli's performance lately, he performed well in Perth during the first Test of the series by obtaining an impressive 100 runs and not getting out. Surprisingly, though in his next four tries at batting, he did not do very well he only managed to obtain 26 runs in total. The best score he got in those innings was only 11.
"Sanjay Bangar advised Virat Kohli to focus on playing as many balls as possible close to his front pad, believing that doing so will help the runs come naturally".
Star Sports had a discussion regarding what strategies Kohli might use to start scoring runs again, and Bangar chimed in with some tips. He suggested, to improve, you should stop thinking so much of your batting skills. Stand firm, wait patiently, and allow the ball to come to you; this not running quickly to get the ball can really prove you're a strong player.
In the ongoing BGT, all four of Kohli's dismissals have come through catches by the wicketkeeper or in the slip cordon. He has especially struggled when facing a relatively new ball.

Kohli shines at the MCG, scoring a solid 316 runs in just six innings, with an average of 52.67. Not to forget, his important 169-run inning during the 2014 Boxing Day Test really shows his skills. Bangar says Kohli likes the MCG because the crowd's hype excites him, making it his sort of location since he's characterized by those vibrant undercurrents. What's more, Bangar points out that any performer would really want a big place to show off, and MCG is just that spot for Kohli. Remembering that amazing score, it's clear why Kohli has such a fond spot for the MCG.
