Pakistan turns heat on ICC ahead of T20 World Cup 2026 with 6 huge demands

Just a few days prior to the beginning of T20 World Cup 2026 (February 7 - India and Sri Lanka), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a stunning and HUGE announcement! PCB has declared that they will boycott their upcoming match with India which is set for February 15 in Colombo. This has been done in support of Bangladesh after the International Cricket Council (ICC) removed them from participating in the T20 World Cup 2026 because they would not agree to travel to India for matches due to no security concerns, replacing them with Scotland.

Additionally, prior to this announcement, the PCB indicated that they were considering boycotting the entire tournament. They have decided only to request one match; against India which is one of the host countries. The PCB had discussions with the government of Pakistan and made their decision to participate in T20 WC 2026. However, they have continued to present 6 shocking demands to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the chairman Jay Shah, as a last-ditch attempt to avert the boycott of the Pakistan vs. India match.

India-Pakistan Bilateral Cricket Series to Resume

RevSportz Journalist Rohit Juglan states Pakistan has requested these demands as part of what they call a “mutually agreeable solution” with the BCCI. The PCB's most important and majorly significant issue is to revitalize their full cricketing series against India including all formats of the game (test, ODIs and T20s) not just participation in ICC tournaments or ACC….Pakistan feels that it is unfair for them to play only limited to International/Bilaterally sanctioned events (global) and wishes to have their international cricketing ties with India restored as they were previously.

The two teams last played a bilaterally sanctioned series in 2012/13 (when Pakistan toured for a limited overs series), since then due to political tension there has been no further series played by the two countries; the already existing military conflict between both nations has only intensified the situation since then.

India–Pakistan Test in World Test Championship

Pakistan’s request for an ICC-approved India vs. Pakistan Test match to be played as part of the World Test Championship recognises that the current political climate makes playing in either India or Pakistan very difficult and also includes a list of suggested neutral countries, such as Dubai, Melbourne, London or Harare, where the match might be held.

The PCB firmly believes that Test cricket between India and Pakistan is necessary for the sake of equality, as well as for promoting global interest in cricket. The last time India and Pakistan played a Test match was in 2007, when they played to a draw at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, India went on to win the series 1-0 against Pakistan.
