Pakistan to conduct white-ball and red-ball training camps under Sarfaraz and Hesson

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will conduct two training camps, involving a total of 49 players: 22 in red-ball and 27 in white-ball. The red-ball camp will begin on June 8, with players involved in the recently concluded Australia ODI series allowed to join by June 15. 

June 15 will also be the date when the white-ball camp will commence, after which both camps will run simultaneously.

Camps to cover Pakistan’s rare break

Both these camps are scheduled to run until Pakistan's next international assignment, which will be a two-match Test series against West Indies, starting July 25. The red-ball camp will last until July 10, following which the squad will engage in pre-tour training sessions.

Pakistan's white-ball head coach Mike Hesson and his red-ball counterpart Sarfaraz Ahmed will oversee the camps and could swap players if needed.

Players swapping 

For instance, Pakistan's white-ball captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has not been included in the Test cricket training camp; however, Sarfaraz can borrow him to work on his longest format form.

"Both camps have been devised to prepare players for upcoming international and domestic events," the PCB said in a media release. "During the camps, the players will work with National and NCA coaches alongside PCB Medical staff on their skills and fitness. The players will also have one-on-one sessions with coaches to better understand the skills and fitness requirements at the international level."

NCA has been allowed to call up more players for the camps. While the players with English county contracts this summer have not been included in the camps, they could be called back in the later stages.
