Pakistan put up a comprehensive show to tick off the first Super Sixes task

Pakistan put up a comprehensive show to tick off the first Super Sixes taskPakistan U19 were well served by their bowlers as they bundled out New Zealand U19 for 110 runs, with only five of their batters crossing double figures.

Pakistan pacers demolished New Zealand

Pacers Ali Raza and Abdul Subhan were the wreckers-in-chief, sharing seven wickets between them to put New Zealand on the back foot.

With 12 wickets in only four games, Ali has become the highest wicket-taker of the tournament, while Subhan trails him by just a couple. New Zealand opener Hugo Bogue, who top-scored with 39 off just 27 balls, looked set to carry the team despite losing his partner early.

He and captain Tom Jones added 48 for the second wicket, but a middle-order collapse, where four wickets fell for no runs, left New Zealand teetering on the edge.

The tail-enders tried to sign off on a better note, but Pakistan were already in full control and ensured New Zealand did not push the score much further.

Sameer Minhas shines again

The chase was largely smooth, even though Hamza Zahoor departed in the third over. Sameer Minhas, expectedly, shouldered the bulk of the task. Pakistan reached the target in 17 overs, although they would have done their NRR well to finish the job a bit quicker.

With this win, Pakistan now sit third in Super Sixes Group 2, with England and India ahead of them with six points each. Their next game, against India U19 on Sunday, will be crucial in deciding the fate of Group 2.
