Pakistan players go unsold in the Women’s Hundred Auction
Pakistan players did not find any takers on the first day of the Hundred 2026 auction, which was reserved for women’s teams. Fatima Sana and Sadia Iqbal, the only players who were part of the longlist, entered the auction at a base price of £15,000 each.
Sana and Sadia left out despite their prime form
Fatima is the sixth-ranked all-rounder in T20Is and comes off an incredible run in the format. She was the highest run-scorer in the South Africa T20I series, where she scored 146 runs in three balls, including a match-winning 47* in the final match. Sadia, on the other hand, is currently at the top spot in the ICC T20I bowlers’ rankings.
With the duo going unsold, the absence of Pakistan women’s cricketers from the Hundred continues. While a good number of Pakistan men’s players have previously featured in the competition, their female counterparts have yet to debut in the hundred-ball competition.
Pakistan players’ snub
Earlier, there were reports from within the English media that the IPL-linked teams in the Hundred, which bought partial or full stakes in the franchises following the last season, are not keen on considering Pakistan players in the auction.
The reason behind it was understood to be the strained political ties between India and Pakistan. The speculation only died down after the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and all of the Hundred franchises issued a joint statement reiterating that players will be included without any discrimination.
The Hundred 2026 auction is scheduled to take place across two days, with men’s cricketers going under the hammer on March 12, the final day of the auction. As many as 14 Pakistan players, including one in the Marquee Players tier, are part of the longlist.
