PAK vs NZ 2nd T20I Highlights: Seifert, Bowlers Shine as New Zealand Seal 5-Wicket Win Over Pakistan to Take 2-0 Lead
New Zealand took a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series against Pakistan with a five-wicket win in the second T20I on Tuesday, March 18 at University Oval, Dunedin. After being put in to bat first, Pakistan posted 135/9 in the rain-curtailed 15-over game, riding on a brilliant knock from captain Salman (46 off 28). In reply, New Zealand chased down the target in 13.1 overs with Tim Seifert (45 off 22) leading the charge.
Agha Salman’s fighting knock of 46 off 28 balls his highest score in T20Is was one of the few bright spots for Pakistan. Khushdil Shah bowled a tight spell, Haris Rauf bowled with energy, and Shadab Khan chipped in with a quick 26 off 13 balls.
However, Pakistan’s batting problems continue. Their aggressive approach of trying to hit every ball out of the park backfired. Out of the 19 wickets they’ve lost so far in the series, 18 have been caught highlighting poor shot selection. Despite some rain before the match and a bit of wind, there wasn’t much swing for the bowlers. Still, Pakistan kept losing wickets regularly and couldn’t maintain momentum in their 15-over innings. Jacob Duffy, Jimmy Neesham, Ben Sears, and Ish Sodhi all took two wickets each.

New Zealand’s chase started with some drama. Shaheen Afridi bowled a maiden over and even hit the batter twice. But things changed quickly when the next two overs went for seven sixes. By the time Pakistan dismissed Tim Seifert (45 off 22) and Finn Allen (38 off 16), New Zealand had already taken control of the game. Though Pakistan managed to remove a few middle-order batters, the required run rate was low enough that New Zealand never felt pressured. Mitchell Hay held his nerve with 21 off 16* to see his team home comfortably.
