One Last Time? MS Dhoni’s T-Shirt Message Fuels Retirement Rumors

One last time? Well, it looks like ‘Thala’ MS Dhoni might be dropping a big hint. The legendary former Indian captain arrived in Chennai on Wednesday (February 26), wearing what seemed like a cryptic message ahead of IPL 2025 in March. Dhoni’s bond with Chennai Super Kings is nothing short of legendary. But with every passing day, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter appears more nearer than ever before to bringing his curtain down, bidding farewell to the game that he's dominated for a lifetime.

Over the years, there has been constant talk about Dhoni’s future in the IPL. Now, it looks like he has dropped a strong hint about it as he arrived in Chennai. CSK shared a picture of their legendary captain, ‘Thala’ Dhoni, landing in Chennai for the pre-season camp. In the photo, he was seen walking out of the airport wearing a t-shirt with a coded message.

But when fans took a closer look, many speculated that the message on his t-shirt was actually Morse code for “ONE LAST TIME.”

This small hint has created a huge buzz among fans, making them wonder if this is truly Dhoni’s last season. Even Dhoni has said that getting ready for his 18th IPL season hasn’t been easy. He admitted that staying fit is much harder now than before.

“I am not fit as I used to be, a lot of effort now needs to be there on what you are eating and I am doing very specific things to be fit for cricket. We are not fast bowlers so our requirements are not that intense," Dhoni stated earlier this year. What really helps me is playing a lot of sports in between eating and going to the gym. So whenever I get time I like to play many different sports, whether tennis, badminton, or football, that keep me engaged. That’s the best way of being in touch with fitness," Dhoni said.

Dhoni has retired from all formats of cricket except the IPL. Before IPL 2024, he stepped down as CSK captain, handing over the role to Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, CSK couldn’t make it to the playoffs last season, finishing fifth on the points table.

Dhoni is one of the most successful IPL captains, having led CSK to five titles. IPL 2025 is set to begin on March 22, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens.
