MS Dhoni Cleared Fitness Test, Yet Likely to Miss Clash vs Gujarat Titans

MS Dhoni is back from his injury and fit, but he doesn’t want to join the Chennai Super Kings team. As per the reports from the Source, MS Dhoni doesn't want to change the balance of the team ahead of the CSK vs. GT game in IPL 2026.
MS Dhoni Chooses Team Balance Over Comeback in IPL 2026
Dhoni had a calf injury and hasn’t played in any game in the current season. However, since he has recovered and has successfully completed the fitness test, still, he doesn’t want to come back.
It’s simply because Dhoni doesn't wish to make way for a young player and create an imbalance in the remaining games of the league. The call whether to play or not entirely lies with him despite the poor performances of the CSK middle order in the ongoing season.
Michael Hussey, CSK batting coach, said that whenever Dhoni returns, he'll be playing as a wicketkeeper instead of a batter. The player, aged 44, has missed many games during the current season, including one against Mumbai Indians. Speculation about Dhoni’s return as Impact Player got put to rest when Michael Hussey made it clear that he'll come as a Full time wicketkeeper.

Hussey said that,
“But certainly from a skill perspective, we know what he can do as a keeper. We know he's batting, he's batting really well, so it's just hopefully getting that confidence in the calf,”
“Yeah, he's progressing really well. I know he's pushing hard to get back as quickly as he possibly can. I know all the fans want to see MS Dhoni out there playing as well. So we're hopeful maybe in the next few games. We want him back as quickly as he possibly can as well,”
“But obviously he needs to be close to 100 per cent ready to give his best. Because he's been batting well on the nets. He looks good in the nets. Just needs to run hard between the wickets too,”
