On This Day: Rohit Sharma Sets Record with Joint-Fastest T20I Hundred in 35 Balls in 2017
On December 22, 2017, Rohit Sharma the Indian opener made history.Sharma hit a century in the same amount of time as South African player David Miller, making it the fastest in T20I cricket when playing against Sri Lanka."Sharma got his 100 runs in just 35 balls and ended up scoring an impressive 118 runs from 43 balls". Sharma hit the ball past the edge 12 times and hit the ball very far 10 times, unambiguously demonstrating his impressive strength and precision during the game.KL Rahul hit an anomalous 89 runs off just 49 balls, adding more runs to the Indian team's score. Sharma's batting performance was very important, helping India reach a very big score of 260/5 after they were put in to bat first at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

At the post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match and discussed how well he did.Sharma said the conditions were perfect for batting when he went to play. Sharma mentioned he just aimed to play the way he usually does, which is striking the ball straight. Rohit has been practicing this method for the past few months, and during the game, he just focused on having a lot of fun. When questioned regarding hitting a double century, he acknowledged that expecting so much was too much. Rohit also mentioned that in T20 cricket, score is too high to chase, so their goal was always to score as much as they could.

He also said that there's a specific way in which he bats. He focuses on timing and maintaining his form instead of striking the ball with too much force. He believes a lot in our wrist spinners; they play a key role in helping the team recover; these two players keep trying no matter what. Instead of just being careful, they take chances by delivering the ball with more air to get wickets.
