National Stadium Chaos Raises Security Doubts Ahead of Champions Trophy

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will start on February 19, with warm-up matches scheduled from February 14 to 17. Hosts Pakistan will face New Zealand in the opening match at the National Stadium in Karachi. Before this exciting event, there were security concerns arose after the chaos erupted during the opening ceremony at the stadium.
Pakistan has spent around 17 billion rupees on upgrading three stadiums in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy. There were concerns raised about the condition of three Champions Trophy venues Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. However, the PCB has completed the renovation of the stadiums on time.
The PCB has planned a special ceremony with free entry for fans, featuring a musical event in the renovation of the stadiums. In this event, some fans tried to enter the VIP stands to get a closer view of the opening ceremony, this incident was caught in a video and went viral on the internet.

Also, some fans tried to enter the stadium during the event. Another person even tried to enter the field before being stopped by the security staff. This incident raised security concerns about player's safety.

As the Champions Trophy nears, Pakistan is set to host nine out of the 15 matches. Meanwhile, all of India’s matches will be played in the UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, after the Indian government decided not to send its team to Pakistan.
