Mustafizur, Emon among Bangladesh players set to leave PSL

Bangladesh players including Nahid Rana, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Rishad Hossain, and Tanzid Hasan are set to leave the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after being named in Bangladesh’s squad for the New Zealand white-ball series. Of these players, only Mustafizur, who is part of Lahore Qalandars, is expected to return following the conclusion of the ODI leg of the tour.

Zalmi to feel the biggest impact

Of all teams, Peshawar Zalmi will be the most affected by these departures, as three players from the list, Rana, Tanzid, and Shoriful, are featuring for the franchise this year. Earlier, Bangladesh players were issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the league, subject to their selection for the series, which is set to begin on April 17.

The exact date of their departure is yet to be confirmed. However, Multan Sultans owner, Gohar Shah, suggested that Zalmi pacers Shoriful and Rana could leave on April 14. ESPNcricinfo, meanwhile, reported that some players might return home as early as April 12.

Emon ruled out due to injury

Additionally, Lahore Qalandars batter Parvez Hossain Emon will also leave the league following an injury he picked up during a game against Multan Sultans. Emon collided with teammate Asif Ali while fielding, and scans revealed a ligament tear in his shoulder, ruling him out of the competition.

The opening batter played three games for the franchise, scoring at an average of 23.66 with a strike rate of 161. Qalandars confirmed his unavailability during the toss against Peshawar Zalmi on Saturday, adding that the Bangladesh batter would leave the side after the conclusion of the game.
