Mumbai Indians Sign Corbin Bosch as Replacement for Injured Lizaad Williams for IPL 2025
The new IPL 2025 season is around the corner, and all 10 franchises are gearing up for a strong performance. In a recent update, five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have announced South African bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch as a replacement for the injured Lizaad Williams.
Williams will miss the IPL 2025 because of a knee injury. He also missed the SA20 in January 2025 and is still recovering. On the other hand, Corbin Bosch, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, has now been called up to the Mumbai Indians camp. This should feel comfortable for him since he played for MI Cape Town in this year's SA20. Also, this won’t be Bosch’s first time playing in the IPL.
He was earlier brought in by Rajasthan Royals as a net bowler, but he hasn’t played a league match yet. Now, he’ll be hoping to get a chance to play for Mumbai Indians. “South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams is ruled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2025 due to an injury, and Mumbai Indians have signed his compatriot Corbin Bosch as his replacement,” Mumbai Indians’ statement read.
“Bosch, a bowling all-rounder, has represented South Africa (SA) in one Test and two ODIs and has played 86 T20s. The 30-year-old made his international debut in December and was also included in the Proteas’ 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy as a replacement for the injured Anrich Nortje,” the release added.
Mumbai Indians will begin their IPL 2025 journey against their biggest rivals, Chennai Super Kings. The two teams will face each other in the third match of the tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 23. Both sides will be eager to start the season with a win.
