Multan Sultans revamp coaching staff, retain Tim Paine

Multan Sultans revamp coaching staff, retain Tim PaineMultan Sultans, who have re-entered the league under new owners in place of Sialkot Stallionz, have replaced most of the coaching staff hired by the previous management. Amid the changes, the new owners, CD Ventures, have retained former Australian captain Tim Paine as their head coach.

Mike Smith rejoins PSL

Among the new hires is South Africa’s Mike Smith as assistant coach. Smith is not new to the league, having coached Islamabad United in 2021. Additionally, Multan have replaced Sohail Tanvir with Saud Khan as the bowling coach. Saud is credited with working with several top-tier fast bowlers, including Wasim Akram.

Sohaib Maqsood, who previously played for Multan Sultans for three seasons, has been roped in as a batting consultant. Maqsood was earlier appointed by the Stallionz management as batting coach.

The Sultans have also hired a tactical coach, bringing in Qaiser Abbas for the role.

How did Multan Sultan return?

CD Ventures, owned by Gohar Shah, bought a majority stake in the Stallionz last week, which allowed them to rebrand the franchise. Being the underbidder during the Sultans’ auction, where they were outbid by Walee Technologies after a prolonged bidding war, CD Ventures were certain about what they wanted to rename the Stallionz as.
