RCB Wins Their First IPL Title After 18 Years, Defeating Punjab Kings by 6 Runs
After waiting 18 long years, Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally lifted their first IPL trophy by beating Punjab Kings by six runs in the final on Tuesday. RCB scored 190 runs for the loss of nine wickets, thanks to some solid batting. Punjab’s bowlers did a good job keeping them in check, but their batters couldn’t handle the pressure. Despite a fighting effort, the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab team fell short and ended up at 184/7 in their 20 overs.
Krunal Pandya was RCB’s best bowler, picking up 2 wickets while giving away just 17 runs in his 4 overs. After coming close in the past and finishing as runners-up three times, RCB finally got to lift the IPL trophy. It was a tough and emotional loss for Punjab Kings, who were playing in only their second final and their first one since 2014.
