Mohsin Naqvi given ‘all decision-making power’ in new PSL governing council
Under the agreement signed between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL), chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been given ‘all decision-making power’ related to the league.
Members of the PSL governing council
The agreement also revises the PSL governing council, which will comprise 17 members. Of these, nine will be from the PCB, including the board’s PSL CEO, PCB chief operating officer, PCB chief financial officer, PSL director, PCB commercial director, senior general manager finance and accounts, PSL senior manager, and director media and communications. The remaining eight members will be from the PSL, one from each franchise.
This governing council will be headed by the PCB chairman. Since the board has taken charge of one of the franchises, Multan Sultans, for this season, it will have a 9-7 majority in the governing council.
Agreement between PCB and PSL
A copy of the agreement acquired by Dawn News reads:
“A revised PSL governing council has been formed that is headed by the PCB chairman. It will be a consultative body which will work towards a common goal of growing and improving the PSL. The PCB chairman will have all decision-making power over the PSL in respect of any and all decisions.
“The PCB representatives on this PSL governing council will be responsible for providing the PSL team with expert support as required in their expertise area.
“The governing council will, at its discretion, take decisions from time to time regarding arrangements (including who will bear costs) in respect of grounds and umpires for PSL Tournaments.”
Two new franchises will be auctioned on January 8 in Islamabad from a shortlist of cities, including Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Sialkot. Representatives from these two franchises will join the governing council as its newest members.
