MLC 2025 Updated Points Table, Highest Run Scorers and Wicket Takers
Xavier Bartlett came in to bat at No. 8 with the San Francisco Unicorns in trouble at 108 for 6, still needing 74 runs to win. Before this, he wasn’t known for his batting, with an average of just 14.10 in T20s. But on Sunday, he surprised everyone by smashing 59 runs off just 25 balls, hitting four fours and five sixes against top bowlers like Trent Boult and Naveen-ul-Haq. His brilliant knock helped the Unicorns pull off an unexpected win against MI New York, keeping their winning streak alive and putting them on top of the MLC 2025 points table.
Chasing 183 for victory, the San Francisco Unicorns had a terrible start. Finn Allen was out in the second over, followed by Jake Fraser-McGurk and Sanjay Krishnamurthi in the next two. Cooper Connolly fell on the last ball of the powerplay, leaving the Unicorns at 42 for 4. At that point, MI New York were in full control, and it seemed like their first win of the season was just around the corner.
But then came Hassan Khan, who had earlier gone for 54 runs in his four overs, joining Tim Seifert at the crease. Seifert had been fighting alone until that point, but Hassan gave the innings a much-needed boost, smashing 43 off just 17 balls in a quick 64-run partnership that came in only 31 balls. Still, when Bartlett walked in and the Unicorns lost captain Corey Anderson soon after, MI New York were still in control until Bartlett’s stunning late assault completely turned the game on its head.
MINY Lose Momentum After Quick Wickets
Earlier, after being put in to bat, MI New York got off to a strong start thanks to Quinton de Kock’s quick 63 off 38 balls. However, he didn’t get much support from the other end, and when he was dismissed in the 12th over with the score at 102 for 4, it looked like MINY might fall short. But Kieron Pollard changed the momentum with four sixes in a single over from Hassan Khan, and Sunny Patel added a handy unbeaten 20 off just 11 balls down the order. Their efforts helped MI New York post a solid total, which looked good for most of the match until Xavier Bartlett’s late fireworks flipped the script.
