Lord's to Host 2026 Women's T20 World Cup Final, Confirmed by ECB

Lord's to Host 2026 Women's T20 World Cup Final, Confirmed by ECBThe England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on May 1 that the final of the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup will be held at the historic Lord's Cricket Ground. England is set to host the tournament, and this will mark the third straight ICC World Cup final in the country to take place at Lord’s. The last time England hosted a women’s World Cup, the 50-over edition in 2017, the final was also held at Lord’s. The same was true for the 2019 men’s ODI World Cup. Interestingly, England went on to win the title on both those occasions.

Apart from Lord's, six other venues have also been earmarked for the tournament. Old Trafford, Headingley, Edgbaston, Hampshire Bowl, The Oval, and Bristol County Ground are the venues that will join Lord's in hosting the 2026 women's T20 World Cup. The tournament, featuring 12 teams, begins on June 12 with the final slated to be held on July 5. A total of 30 league fixtures will be played out, with the teams split into two groups of six each.

Jay Shah Backs England as Host for 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup

Jay Shah, the ICC Chair, showed his full support for the ECB to host a smooth and successful tournament. He expressed confidence that England’s deep-rooted cricket culture would add great value to the World Cup. Shah also said that Lord’s was clearly the best choice to host the final.

"The confirmation of venues represents a defining moment as we build towards the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. This tournament will bring together the world's finest players in a celebration of skill, spirit and sportsmanship," said Shah.

"The United Kingdom's rich diversity has always shown passionate support for all teams, something we witnessed so memorably at past events. The sell-out Women's Cricket World Cup final at Lord's in 2017 remains a landmark in the rise of the women's game, and I cannot think of a more fitting stage for the final," he added.

"We are hugely excited for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, and thrilled to be able to confirm the seven iconic venues that will host the tournament," said Gould through the ECB release.
