Kohli’s Reaction After Consecutive Ducks Leaves Retirement Rumors Swirling

Kohli’s Reaction After Consecutive Ducks Leaves Retirement Rumors Swirling

[ Poll: Qw1B2eyO ]

For the first time in his ODI career, Virat Kohli got out for two ducks in a row. In the Perth ODI, he couldn’t score off 8 balls, and in Adelaide, he was dismissed after just 4 balls. His back-to-back failures sparked a lot of talk on social media, with fans questioning whether the star batter’s international career might be coming to an end.

When Kohli walked back to the dressing room, his reaction added more fuel to the retirement rumors, leaving many to wonder about the future of the 36-year-old cricket legend. Kohli was seen waving to the fans with his gloves in hand as he went back to the dressing room. Fans wondered if he was hinting at retirement. With players like Yashasvi Jaiswal waiting for a chance, getting a spot in the Indian team is very tough.

Kohli Wants World Cup Spot but Struggles with Form

Even someone as famous as Kohli is not automatically in the team right now. Ahead of the first ODI at Perth, Kohli made a bold statement about his fitness and preparedness for the series. He also refused to give up on the 2027 ODI World Cup dream. But his performances on the field haven't quite matched the words he used ahead of the start of the series.

"I'm feeling as fit, if not fitter than I've ever been before, and yeah, you can just feel the freshness when you know you can play the game, and mentally you know what to do out there; it's just the physical preparation that really needs to be taken care of," he had said ahead of the start of the first ODI on Sunday.

"At this stage, I realised that if my body is fit, if my reflexes are there, then the game awareness is already there; my body has to match up with it, and that's something that I try to keep up with. I live my life like that and, yeah, no issues at all. I'm feeling fresh here coming into Australia and moving really well in the nets and in the fielding sessions as well, so all good so far," Kohli had said.

Kohli wants to play in the ODI World Cup, but right now his poor form makes it hard for him to keep his place in the team.
