This century is a special one for Rishabh Pant, it’s the first time an Indian batter has scored hundreds in both innings of a Test match in England. It also happens to be his fourth century on English soil. He played a fearless knock but was eventually out for 118 while trying to hit Shoaib Bashir for a six.

Rishabh Pant walked in early on Day 4 after captain Shubman Gill got out. Wasting no time, he went on the attack, taking on the England bowlers and putting India in a strong position by tea. Earlier in the day, KL Rahul played a determined innings and scored a hard-fought century, helping India stretch their lead to nearly 300 runs. He reached his ninth Test hundred off 202 balls, hitting 13 fours along the way. It was also his third Test century in England.

Continuing from the overnight score of 46, Rahul mixed caution with aggression to put India in ahead in the second session on Day 4.Once he saw off the new ball, Rahul played some extraordinary drives to release the pressure off himself and the team.

Pant and Rahul Steady India After Early Wickets in Second Innings

Pant and Rahul put together a huge 195-run stand for the fourth wicket, giving India a strong grip on the match. This was the fifth century by an Indian batter in the game. In the first innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Pant had already scored hundreds, helping India post a big total of 471 runs. It was only the second time in Test history that four or more Indian batters scored centuries in the same match.

In reply, England’s Ollie Pope got to his ninth Test ton, while Harry Brook was dismissed for 99. Jasprit Bumrah's fifer restricted England to 465 runs, just six short of India's tally. In the second innings, Jaiswal, Sudharsan, and Gill were dismissed cheaply with the score still under 100. However, Rahul and Pant's partnership ensured that India stayed in the game while they aim to set a target that out of England's reach on the final day.
