Karnataka CM Assures Safety Measures as IPL Remains at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said on Sunday that Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium will continue to host IPL matches. His comment comes after doubts about the stadium’s future, especially following the June 4 stampede.
Which happened when huge crowds gathered to celebrate Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL 2025 victory. After casting his vote in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) presidential election, Shivakumar told reporters that a larger cricket stadium is also planned for the future.
"I’m a cricket lover. We will ensure that the accident in Karnataka does not happen again and hold cricket events at Chinnaswamy Stadium in a manner that upholds the honour of Bengaluru," he said.

Shivakumar also said that the KSCA will manage the stadium by following all the rules and will put better systems in place to handle the crowd.
Reiterating the government’s stance, he said, "We will not shift the IPL elsewhere and will continue to hold it here at Chinnaswamy Stadium. This is the pride of Bengaluru and Karnataka, which we will retain."
He also said that the government would make sure women cricketers get the same chances and support as the men.
