Iyer’s Special Gesture: India Star Shreyas Iyer Gifts Shoes to Net Bowler Ahead of NZ Match
This is definitely a big moment for net bowler Jaskiran Singh, who got a pair of shoes from India’s top batter, Shreyas Iyer. A professional accountant and a part-time cricketer, Jaskiran is part of the ICC net bowling team for the Champions Trophy.
While fielding at long-off, Iyer walked up to him and asked, “Brother, how are you? Everything fine?” Jaskiran described the special moment, saying, “Shreyas bhai came up to me and asked, ‘What’s your shoe size?’ I said 10, and then he said, ‘I’ve got something for you,’ and he gave me these shoes. It really means a lot,” he told PTI Videos.

Interestingly, Jaskiran was first disappointed when he was not picked for India’s net sessions since there were already many off-spinners bowling. However, he got a chance to bowl to Pakistan and Bangladesh batters. But his disappointment turned into a big, happy surprise when the star batter, probably noticing that he looked upset, walked up to Jaskiran and gifted him a pair of his shoes.
"I am a part of the ICC net bowling team for the Champions Trophy. Today was one such special moment of my life. Received these spikes from Shreyas Iyer. I was fielding at long-off when Shreyas Bhai came up to me and asked, "Paaji kya haal-chaal, sab badiya? What's your show size? I said 10, and then he said I've got something for you and he gave me these spikes and it really means a lot. In this tournament I've fielded for them but was waiting for an opportunity to bowl to them." Jaskiran Singh Said.
After scoring just 15 runs against Bangladesh in the first match, Shreyas Iyer bounced back with a responsible half-century against Pakistan. His innings played a key role in India's win in their second game of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
