IRE vs WI: West Indies Matthew Forde Hits Joint-Fastest Fifty Ever in ODI Cricket

West Indies Matthew Forde made history in the second ODI against Ireland in Dublin on May 23. He smashed a 50 in just 16 balls, equalling AB de Villiers record for the fastest fifty in ODI history. De Villiers had set the record in 2015 against West Indies.

Matthew Forde’s fiery innings ended with him scoring 58 runs off just 19 balls in the 47th over. His knock included two fours and eight sixes with 56 of his 58 runs coming from boundaries. The 23-year-old’s quick burst helped West Indies reach 352 for eight in 50 overs putting them in a strong position to level the three-match series.

Forde, usually known for his bowling, stepped up with the bat in the first ODI too, even though West Indies lost by 124 runs. He scored a steady 38 off 48 balls and built a vital 98-run partnership with Roston Chase. The duo gave the team some hope after a shaky start at 71 for six while chasing 304.
