IPL 2026 Auction: CSK’s Most Expensive Player Season-wise (2008–2025)

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League, sharing the record of five titles with Mumbai Indians. Led by the legendary MS Dhoni for most of their journey, CSK have reached the IPL final a record 10 times more than any other team.

[ Poll: VwXV8PLK ]

Since their first season in 2008, Chennai Super Kings have been known as one of the most well-managed and disciplined teams in the league. Over the years, they have made brave and smart choices during IPL auctions. Their auction strategy has always been different, helping them find players who not only perform well but also stay loyal to the team.

In the first IPL auction in 2008, CSK made headlines by signing MS Dhoni with the highest bid of the season. The next year, in 2009, they again surprised everyone by buying England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff for a record amount.

Over time, Chennai has always trusted its players, keeping faith in them through both good and bad seasons. As the 2026 auction gets closer, CSK will again aim to bring in fresh talent and make some bold moves to strengthen their squad.

The table above only includes players who were bought at the auction. It doesn’t include players who were retained, traded, or part of the icon player list from 2008 to 2010. From 2008 to 2013, IPL auctions were held in US dollars, so the prices have been converted to Indian rupees based on the average exchange rate of that year.
