IPL 2026 Auction: 5 Players Delhi Capitals Should Target in the Auction

IPL 2026 Auction: 5 Players Delhi Capitals Should Target in the Auction

[ Poll: NZAmXjZY ]

Delhi Capitals don’t have much to worry about when it comes to filling their squad for the IPL 2026 mini-auction. They had a strong start in IPL 2025 but fell apart in the second half and just missed the playoffs. Their release list looks reasonable too.

Letting go of Faf du Plessis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Darshan Nalkande, Mohit Sharma, Sediqullah Atal and Manvanth Kumar seems like a smart move, as it helps them clear out players they didn’t really need. While their current unit is a strong and a balanced one, they still have a few gaps to fill. Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, let’s take a look at players DC should eye at the event. First and foremost, DC need to find an opening partner for KL Rahul, since they have released du Plessis and JFM.

From the list of released players, some of the options that the team can target include the ex-CSK duo of Rachin and Conway, apart from Kiwi keeper-batter Seifert and ex-KKR star Quinton de Kock. All four have a decent track record as openers. Another option that DC can pursue is buying back Fraser-McGurk for a lesser price. The Australian opener, who was once viewed as a destructive batter, was released after a sub-par performance in IPL 2025. He had been retained for Rs 9 crore before the IPL 2025 auction. DC could very well buy him back at a lower price.

DC also need a reliable back-up wicketkeeper in case Rahul gets injured or can’t play. One possible option is the young uncapped player Vansh Bedi, who didn’t get a chance to play for CSK in IPL 2025 but is considered very talented. Another option is Quinton de Kock. The team might also look to bring in a few more specialist spinners. Rahul Chahar and Adam Zampa are two strong options, as both have done well in the IPL before. Along with that, DC may try to strengthen their already strong fast-bowling group by adding Akash to the squad.
