Delhi Capitals kept their IPL 2026 playoff hopes alive with a thrilling three-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in a must-win encounter at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium on Monday. The win came at a crucial stage of the tournament and ensured that Delhi remained mathematically in contention for a playoff spot.

The victory pushed Delhi Capitals to seventh place in the IPL 2026 points table. DC have now played 12 matches, winning five and losing seven, taking their tally to 10 points. However, their net run rate remains a concern at -0.993, meaning they will likely need dominant wins in their remaining matches to stay in the race.

Despite the loss, Punjab Kings continue to hold fourth position in the standings. PBKS have played 11 matches so far, winning six and losing four, while one game ended without a result. They currently sit on 13 points with a healthy net run rate of +0.428, keeping them firmly in the playoff mix heading into the final phase of the league stage.

At the top of the table, Royal Challengers Bengaluru lead the standings with 14 points from 11 matches and an impressive net run rate of +1.103. Sunrisers Hyderabad are second with the same number of points and a net run rate of +0.737, while Gujarat Titans occupy third place with 14 points and a net run rate of +0.228. Chennai Super Kings are fifth with 12 points, followed closely by Rajasthan Royals in sixth place.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders remain in eighth position with nine points from 10 matches, while five-time champions Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have officially been eliminated from the playoff race. Both sides have managed only six points from 11 games, ending disappointing campaigns for two franchises that entered the season with high expectations.
