IPL 2025 Retention: Shubman Gill Set to Stay with Gujarat Titans

The Gujarat Titans are poised to retain their captain, Shubman Gill, for the IPL 2025 season, with key spinner Rashid Khan expected to remain under his leadership, according to GT sources. As the IPL retention deadline approaches this Thursday, speculation is rife regarding players' futures. With a mega auction on the horizon, GT aims to solidify their squad around Gill in pursuit of another IPL title.

"Shubman Gill will lead the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, with Rashid Khan playing under him. Several top teams are interested in Gill for the auction, but he prefers to remain loyal to GT and strengthen the team," GT sources informed ANI.

Gill took over the captaincy from Hardik Pandya but faced challenges during his inaugural season, leading the team to an eighth-place finish with just 12 points in IPL 2024. After 14 matches, GT recorded five wins and seven losses, finishing with a net run rate of -1.063.

In his debut season as captain, Gill scored 426 runs at an average of 38.73 and a strike rate of 147.40.
