IPL 2025 Points Table: Updated Team Ranking, Standings, and Net Run Rate After PBKS vs KKR Match
Punjab Kings climbed into the top four of the IPL 2025 standings after a memorable 16-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders in New Chandigarh on Tuesday. It also marked the lowest total successfully defended in IPL history. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings finally broke their five-game losing streak with a hard-fought win against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on Monday, though they continue to sit at the bottom of the table.
Prabhsimran Singh (30 off 15) and Priyansh Arya (22 off 12) gave Punjab a flying start putting up 39 runs in just 20 balls for the opening stand. However, KKR bounced back strongly through Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana (3/25 in 3 overs). Rana made an instant impact, removing Shreyas Iyer and Priyansh Arya in his first over, while Chakravarthy trapped Josh Inglis lbw for just 2.
Prabhsimran, who was looking dangerous, was also removed by Harshit Rana for 30 off 15 balls, leaving Punjab struggling at 54/4 after the powerplay. Things didn’t get any better as the spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy (2/21) kept the pressure on. Punjab’s batting collapsed and they were bowled out for just 111. Anrich Nortje (1/23) and Vaibhav Arora (1/26 in 2.2 overs) also chipped in with a wicket each.
Chahal’s Brilliant Spell Shifts Momentum in PBKS Favor
KKR lost both openers with just 7 runs on the board, but a 55-run stand between skipper Ajinkya Rahane and youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi brought them back into the game. Just when things looked steady, Yuzvendra Chahal turned the match around with a brilliant spell removing both set batters quickly. He ended with impressive figures of 4/28 in 4 overs. Punjab’s fightback with the ball saw KKR collapse from 72/4 in 9.1 overs to 95 all out in 15.1 overs. After a poor show with the bat, many had written PBKS off—but Chahal’s game-changing spell helped them pull off a remarkable win.
