IPL 2025 Points Table: Updated Team Ranking, Standings, and Net Run Rate After DC vs LSG
Axar Patel-captained Delhi Capitals defeated Rishabh Pant's Lucknow Super Giants by 1 wicket in match 4 of the current edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Vizag, on March 24 (Monday). Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam, the DC's young talents, made a stunning impact with their heroic displays against LSG. They wrestled the game out of Lucknow's control and guided their team to victory.
Following explosive knocks by Nicholas Pooran (75) and Mitchell Marsh (72), the Lucknow Super Giants were restricted to a modest 209 for 8 in their Indian Premier League clash on Monday. On a favorable batting track, LSG fell at least 30 runs short after reaching 133 for 1 in the 12th over, only to suffer a dramatic collapse, losing seven wickets for just 61 runs.
Nicholas Pooran’s Power-Packed 75 Sets the Stage for LSG
Marsh smashed six sixes and as many boundaries in his blistering 21-ball fifty, marking his fastest half-century. The LSG openers provided a flying start without any external assistance, and later, Pooran powered his way to 75 off just 30 balls, hitting seven sixes and six fours. At one stage, LSG seemed on track to post 240 or more, but the Delhi Capitals halted their charge with a brilliant spell from Kuldeep Yadav (4-0-20-2) and Mitchell Starc’s crucial 3/42.
LSG faltered in the second half, managing only 76 runs in the final eight overs while losing six wickets, despite a dominant start at 133 for one in the 12th over. Rishabh Pant, the new LSG captain, was left frustrated after being dismissed for a six-ball duck by Kuldeep played a key role in Delhi regaining momentum.
Kuldeep cleverly used flighted deliveries and varied his pace, leaving the batters uncertain about stepping out or playing from the crease. As wickets kept tumbling, David Miller fought till the end without much support. His 27 off 19 balls including two sixes and a four at least ensured LSG crossed the 200-run mark in the final over.
From Collapse to Comeback: Ashutosh Sharma’s Knock Seals the Win
Delhi Capitals had a disastrous start, losing their first two wickets in the opening over itself. Shardul Thakur struck early, dismissing Jake Fraser-McGurk (1) and Abhishek Porel (0). In the next over M Siddharth removed Sameer Rizvi (4), leaving DC in even deeper trouble. Faf du Plessis and Axar Patel tried to stabilize the innings with a 43-run stand, but their partnership was cut short as the DC captain got out for 22 off 11 balls. Shortly after, vice-captain Du Plessis also got out scoring 29 off 18.
At that point, LSG appeared to have the match at their mercy, having dismissed half of the Delhi team to the pavilion. But DC wasn't going down without a fight. Tristan Stubbs gave an important knock of 34 from 22 balls, but it was the 55-run stand between Vipraj Nigam and Ashutosh Sharma that saw them through. Vipraj gave a miraculous cameo, hitting 39 off 15 balls.
Ashutosh Sharma, displaying incredible calmness, brought up his fifty in 28 balls and single-handedly kept DC's hopes alive. He made sure that, against all odds, his team would cross the line. Appropriately, he won the game in style by hitting a six to conclude the game.
