Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings, also known as Yellow Army, enjoys the biggest fan base on Social media, with millions of fans on Instagram, Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter) combined. The biggest reason behind the massive fanbase is the team's performance in the IPL. CSK has won five IPL trophies in 2010, 2011,2018, 2021 and 2023. Another prominent reason for the team's fanbase is Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has been with the team since the start of the IPL. The team passed on the captaincy from Dhoni to Ruturaj Gaikwad last year. It's expected that this will be the last season of Dhoni in IPL.

Mumbai Indians 

Mumbai Indians came next to CSK in terms of fan base ranking. The team enjoys the second-largest fanbase on social media. Like CSK, the team has also won five IPL trophies in 2013,2015,2017,2019 and 2020. The presence of star cricketers like Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar earlier in the time played a huge role in building this massive fanbase. The golden period for the team was from 2013 to 2020 when the team won five out of eight IPL seasons. Since then, the team has struggled to make the top spot. Last year, the Mumbai Indians also made a surprising change by making Hardik Pandya the team's new captain after trading him in with the Gujrat Titans. This decision faced a massive backlash from the fans, who wooed Hardik Pandya on the ground. For a brief period of time, the MI following was dropped when the decision regarding the change in the team's captaincy came out.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru 

Royal Challengers Bengaluru has the third biggest fanbase in the IPL. RCB fans are some of the most loyal fans in the Indian Premier League. Despite the fact that the team has never won any IPL trophy yet, fans have never left the team. Virat Kohli's worldwide following plays a huge role in the team's vast and loyal fanbase. RCB has reached the finals thrice in 2009, 2011, and 2016. While the team has performed pretty well in the last few seasons, RCB has managed to reach the playoffs in the last few seasons. In the IPL 20-24, after losing the first 6 out of 7 games, the team bounced back by winning the last six games in a row to reach the playoffs, though the team got lost in the eliminator.
