After an exciting opening match between the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, few would have thought that such aggressive cricket would be played in the upcoming matches. However, in last season, the team finished the group stage in fifth position, winning only seven of the 14 matches played and losing the other seven. They needed to win the last match against RCB to qualify for the playoffs, but RCB defeated them by 27 runs and reached the playoffs instead. CSK has started this season on a high note with a victory against the Mumbai Indians and will be looking forward to the upcoming match against RCB.

The IPL 2024 season for RCB was filled with ups and downs. In the first seven matches, the team created a disappointing record by losing 6 of the seven matches played and was at a point where they needed to win all of the upcoming matches to reach the playoffs. After that, a turnaround that no one would ever have expected happened, as RCB won 6 matches in a row and got qualified for the playoffs, though the team lost to Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator, their comeback will be remebered for years. In the first match of the season, RCB defeated Kolkata Knight Riders dominantly, especially with a performance from Virat Kohli and Phil Salt, who batted explosively while chasing the target.
