IPL 2025: Bumrah Is the Bradman of Bowling: Adam Gilchrist's High Praise for India's Pace Ace

Australian cricket great Adam Gilchrist has praised India's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in a big way, calling him the "Sir Donald Bradman of bowling." Bumrah had missed the first four matches of IPL 2025, and during that time, Mumbai Indians (MI) struggled, losing three games. But ever since Bumrah returned to the team, MI have turned things around, winning six out of their last seven matches. Thanks to his strong comeback, MI are now sitting at the top of the IPL 2025 points table.

Jasprit Bumrah has taken 11 wickets in 7 matches in IPL 2025. He’s been very effective, especially since he bowls during the most difficult overs. Despite that, he has kept things tight, giving away runs at just 7 per over. His bowling average is 15.3. Among all bowlers who have bowled at least 25 overs this season, only Kuldeep Yadav has a better economy rate, with 6.74 runs per over.

"He's maybe the best bowler, fast bowler of all time. When you start stacking up the statistics and the varying conditions that he has to go out and execute those skills in, I guess you look at Sir Donald Bradman's numbers compared to his peers, and he's just so far ahead,” Gilchrist said on Cricbuzz.

“I think Bumrah is sort of in that category across all the different variations that you get in conditions and pitches that you've got to bowl on. He's significantly further ahead than the peers around him, so that tells you we are truly watching greatness,” he said.

Bumrah Shines in Australia

In the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, Jasprit Bumrah was the one who turned things around for India. Facing a strong Australian side led by Pat Cummins, Bumrah stepped up brilliantly. He picked up 32 wickets in just five Test matches, with an unbelievable average of 13.1 and a strike rate of 28.4. His performance included two four-wicket hauls and three five-wicket hauls, playing a huge role in keeping India in the fight.

"A seamer from India, consistently throughout, particularly the series that we just saw in the summer, back home in the Australian summer, no, I don't think so. We just sat and watched in awe at close range commentating on that series and again, I know it's a different format, but he is the best all-format bowler; that's nothing to argue there,” he said.
