IPL 2025: After CSK’s Win, MS Dhoni’s Limping Walk Raises Doubts About His Fitness for MI Match
After a tough start to their IPL 2025 season, Chennai Super Kings fans are hoping the five-time champions can bounce back. But some worrying photos have emerged showing MS Dhoni limping after his match-winning cameo against Lucknow Super Giants. On Monday, April 14, Dhoni played a key role in ending CSK’s five-match losing streak, but he didn’t look fully fit, raising concerns about his physical condition.
While keeping wickets, MS Dhoni looked like he was in some pain. Even though he pulled off a brilliant run-out to get rid of Abdul Samad, he seemed to be struggling to stay steady. Still, when CSK needed over 10 runs per over in the last five overs, Dhoni walked out to bat. He teamed up with Shivam Dube and played a key role in the win, smashing 26 runs off just 11 balls. To avoid running quick singles, Dhoni mostly went for big shots instead of running hard between the wickets.
Later, Dhoni was seen limping while walking down the dressing room stairs for his post-match duties. When he went up to collect the Player of the Match award his first in the IPL in seven years, he looked like he was having trouble moving properly. On Monday, another video went viral showing Dhoni limping again as he entered the team hotel in Lucknow, which worried fans even more. However, when he got off the team bus, he was not wearing a cap or a knee brace, which gave a bit of relief.
Dhoni has been managing a troublesome knee for the past few years, but Monday was the first time this season that he looked clearly uncomfortable. Despite that, neither the Chennai Super Kings management nor Dhoni himself have raised any concerns about an injury. After CSK's win in Lucknow bowling coach Eric Simons spoke to the media but didn’t mention anything about Dhoni’s condition.
MS Dhoni is limping a little after the Match yesterday. 🥺

Knee Troubles Can’t Stop Dhoni’s Impact Behind the Stumps
After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first against the strong Lucknow Super Giants, MS Dhoni stayed calm and focused on the field. Dhoni displayed his quick reflexes by executing a perfect run-out from behind the stumps. Dhoni remained alert throughout the match even when Matheesha Pathirana challenged him with difficult deliveries that came from the leg side. The smart glove work combined with disciplined bowling by bowlers helped CSK limit LSG to 166 runs during their 20 overs.
Dhoni has been suffering from knee issues for the past couple of years but continued to play in spite of the pain. He will choose whether to play for the IPL depending on the shape his body is in by the end of each season. With a big match against Mumbai Indians coming up on April 20 at the Wankhede Stadium. CSK fans will be hoping their skipper gets the rest he needs and is fit to lead the team.
