India U19 vs Pakistan U19: Ayush Mhatre Skips Handshake as No-Handshake Policy Continues

india U19 captain Ayush Mhatre did not shake hands with the pakistan captain during the toss of the IND vs PAK match in the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday. This followed India’s no-handshake policy, which began earlier in the Asia Cup 2025 after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first.
India U19 captain Ayush Mhatre spun the coin at the toss before the start of the IND vs PAK match, but the toss did not go in his favour. The captains, instead of shaking hands, directly went on to speak to the broadcaster after the toss. Earlier, reports had claimed that the ICC had asked the BCCI if it would drop its no handshake policy for the IND vs PAK U19 game.
The “handshake issue” became a big talking point during the Men’s Asia Cup 2025, even more than the cricket itself. Every time India played Pakistan in the tournament, the BCCI instructed Indian players not to shake hands with Pakistani players.
