India Backs Gautam Gambhir After T20 World Cup 2026 Win, Contract Extension Likely: Reports

After India won the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket is very happy with the Head coach, Gautam Gambhir. His contract is until the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. However, the reports suggest that the BCCI is planning to extend the contract by one year. This means that the coach Gambhir will be with the team until the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

India has performed very well in white-ball cricket in the past few series and dominated in the T20 World Cup 2026. In fact, the Indian team won the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and the 2025 Asia Cup. However, the team has now won the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
