India got off to a dream start in their Asia Cup T20 campaign, cruising to a record win over UAE. The Men in Blue sealed a dominant 9-wicket victory with 93 balls to spare, thanks to a brilliant all-round show led by their bowlers.
Winning the toss, India elected to bowl first with Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah taking the new ball. Alishan Sharafu (22) and Muhammad Waseem (19) were the only batters to score into double digits as UAE were bundled out for 57. Kuldeep Yadav (4/7 in 2.1), Shivam Dube (3/4 in 2) and Varun Chakaravarthy (1/4 in 2) were wreckers in chief; Dube claiming his career-best T20I figures with a brilliant performance with the UAE side being bundled out in just 13.1 overs.

The opening pair hailing from Punjab - Abhishek Sharma and vice captain Shubman Gill made their intensions clear as Sharma smashed a maximum off the first ball of the innings and scored 30 off 16 balls before Junaid Siddique had him caught in the 4th over. Gill played some classy strokes off the middle of the bat hitting 2 fours and a maximum off his toes in the leg side. Suryakumar Yadav at 3 also smashed a six off the first ball that he faced with his deputy scoring the winning boundary halfway down the 5th over.
India will now face Pakistan in their next encounter on Sunday with UAE facing Oman on Monday.
