IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2025: Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan Fined by ICC

Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan Pakistan cricket players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan have been punished by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the gestures they made during the IND vs PAK match on September 21 in the Asia Cup. Reports say that the BCCI complained about their actions, calling them provocative. In that Super 4 match, India beat their big rivals Pakistan by 6 wickets.

According to Cricbuzz, Haris Rauf was fined for his on-field gesture of pretending a plane was crashing and was strongly warned for bringing a bad name to the game. Sahibzada Farhan, meanwhile, was found guilty of a minor offence (Level 1) and received a warning from the ICC.

"Match referee Richie Richardson had completed his hearing on Friday afternoon at the team hotel. Hars Rauf has been fined 30 percent of his match fees for aggressive behaviour and Farhan has been let off with a warning," a tournament source told.

At the hearing, Haris Rauf defended himself, saying his "6-0 gesture" didn’t mean anything and was not directed at India. He even asked the ICC officials what they thought the gesture meant and pointed out that they couldn’t give a clear answer. Rauf said again that his actions had nothing to do with India.

After the game, the ICC found Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan guilty of minor Level 1 offences. Rauf was fined 30% of his match fees for a provocative gesture, while Farhan got an official warning for pointing his bat like a gun after his half-century. Farhan told the ICC that his celebration was not political and reminded them that former Indian captains MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli had done the same. He did the gesture after scoring fifty against India in the Super Four match.

Suryakumar Yadav Pays Tribute After IND vs PAK Victory

After the September 14 IND vs PAK match, Suryakumar Yadav said, “It was the perfect moment to pause and remember. We stand with the families of the Pahalgam terror attack victims and show our support. We also want to dedicate this win to our armed forces for their bravery. They keep inspiring us and we hope to make them proud on the field whenever we can.”

On Thursday, India captain Suryakumar Yadav appeared for a hearing after the Pakistan Cricket Board complained about his post-match comments, where he dedicated India’s win to the armed forces. The PCB said his mention of Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to the Pahalgam attack, had political meaning. Yadav pleaded not guilty and the ICC warned him not to make similar comments in the future.

Farhan scored a quick 58 off 45 balls in Pakistan’s chase, but his team still lost to India by six wickets. The ICC said such celebrations harm the spirit of the game, though the punishments given were the lowest under the rules. Level 1 offences can carry fines up to 50% of match fees and one or two demerit points, but in this case, the players were only given fines and warnings and told not to repeat such actions.
