PSL 11 retentions: Qalandars release Haris Rauf ahead of player auction
The limit of retaining only four players will likely have hurt Lahore Qalandars more than any other franchise. The joint-most successful side, which rose from the bottom of the table to win three trophies, had built a core that took years to settle and was among the most consistent in the PSL.
Rauf, Zaman released, Shaheen retained
They had to, however, let go of two of their Platinum players: Haris Rauf, regarded as a Qalandars product, and Fakhar Zaman, as they retained Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Platinum category.
In addition, they also released pacer Salman Mirza to retain Abdullah Shafique in the Diamond category.
Sikandar Raza and Mohammad Naeem stay
In the Gold category, Lahore did not retain any local players, opting instead for Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza. Raza, who helped take Qalandars over the line in last season’s final after landing just minutes before the toss, was retained ahead of Zaman Khan, Jahandad Khan, Asif Afridi, and Asif Ali.
Opting not to retain any player in the Emerging category, their Silver category pick ahead of the player auction is batter Mohammad Naeem. Naeem ended the previous season as Lahore’s third-highest run-scorer.

FAQs
Like every PSL franchise, Lahore Qalandars could only retain one player per category. Since Haris Rauf, Shaheeen Shah Afridi, and Fakhar Zaman were in the Platinum category, Qalandars could only select one of them.
